    The Role

    The successful candidate would be working in house in a small team of designers who work on the refurbishment and new restaurant opening programme of our Zizzi restaurants. Responsible for leading the projects and reporting to the Head of Design, whilst working closely with our project team (in-house and external).


    This position will work closely with the Zizzi Board as well as the Property Team, Supply Chain, Operations and Marketing. They will liaise regularly with the external architects, suppliers, contractors and catering designers. They will also support in managing the capital expenditure each year.

    We continually open new sites and refurbish existing sites to evolve them as our brand continues to grow.


    The candidate will be office based in Our Edgware road Head Office but will be required to attend meetings on-site, travelling within the Uk and Ireland.


    The Design Manager reports into the Head of design along with the Zizzi Design team. Azzurri Group is the trading company for ASK Italian, Zizzi, Coco Di mama & Radio Alice.


    Job role Breakdown:


    Part A


    • Designing new sites and refurbishing existing restaurants to Zizzi design guidelines.
    • Liaising with the Head of Design and the Zizzi board to ensure latest thinking in restaurant design is adopted.
    • Evolving/maintaining Brand Guidelines and attending Brand briefing meetings.
    • Signing off aesthetics and overseeing and approval of signage.
    • Co-coordinating the restaurant development programme.
    • Liaising with illustrators to build and maintain a library catalogue of approved artists.
    • Validating orders and invoices.
    • Researching new suppliers, materials and finishes.
    • Negotiating with suppliers both face to face and via telephone.
    • Attending site development meetings.
    • Maintaining an electronic drawings database.
    • Liaising with internal teams to ensure customer expectations are fully met.
    • Attending meetings at sites across the UK & Ireland.
    • Liaising with group supply chain to review ongoing costs and test new products.
    • Attend NPD meetings every 2-3 months to ensure food presentation is in line with brand presentation.
    • Provide feedback on design of various marketing collateral and design based projects

    Part B

    • Attend site briefings, prestart meetings and other site meetings with the project team.
    • Create drawing packages for the refurbishment projects including GA, RCP, Internal elevations, construction details, and furniture & finishes schedules, for internal approval, tender & construction.
    • Lead the design concept for new sites across the UK and Internationally.
    • Ensure all the ‘must have’ brand design elements are included in each project.
    • Follow & maintain consistent drawing standards, project files and naming conventions already established within the design team infrastructure.

    SALARY: up to £35,000 per annum + benefits

    They will be an excellent communicator and have good style. They must be able to multi task and prioritize important over urgent tasks. They will have knowledge of colour theory and be innovative in their approach to design tasks.

    Skills Required

    • Excellent communication skills – able to liaise with contractors, architects, and suppliers with confidence and consideration
    • Patience and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Must be able to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties, work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

    • The Design Manager must have experience of using Vectorworks and Photoshop.
